After Hours Mobile Notary in Battle Creek

Ask for a mobile notary to meet you after work.

Not everyone has the freedom to duck out of work to run errands during business hours. If you suddenly have a document that needs to be notarized, your long work hours can get in the way. Retail locations with notaries public, like banks or shipping centers, close at 5 p.m. or 6 p.m. at the latest.

Mobile Notaries to the Rescue

Mobile notaries, like myself, book evening appointments. I can travel to you at the time and place that works with your busy schedule and notarize your documents as long as you have a government-issued picture ID.

Call or text 269-967-6589, or fill out this online form, to get a quote for mobile notary service in Battle Creek, Kalamazoo, Marshall, and the surrounding area.

With mobile notary service, you enjoy the convenience of completing your important documents without the stress of trying to reach a retail location on your lunch break or before it closes.

People who work second and third shifts also appreciate mobile notary services. You can make an appointment that works for your sleep schedule.

I can travel to your home or meet you outside your workplace. I can meet you in the parking lot of your workplace when you are on break.

You also have the option of asking me to meet you at a public location. Libraries and McDonald’s work well for this.

Finish Your Paperwork With a Mobile Notary

Another advantage of choosing to pay for mobile notary service is that you can avoid setbacks. If you’ve ever had the experience of walking into your bank and discovering the notary is not there right now, you know the frustration of wasting time and still not getting your paperwork signed.

By hiring a mobile notary, you will know that the notary is going to be there for you. There’s no risk of wasting your time.

How to Find a Mobile Notary Near Me

Here's how to find a notary

You have some options when you need to get a document notarized. Because most people don’t need a notary on a regular basis, you might not know where to start when you’re informed that you must get your signature notarized.

Hire Me for Prompt Mobile Notary Service

Before going through all of the ways to find a notary near me, I’ll explain my service. I’m a mobile notary and loan signing agent based in Battle Creek, Michigan. You can call me and make an appointment for me to come to your home, workplace, hospital room, or public location. A travel fee obviously applies, but mobile notary is the most convenient and flexible option for getting your documents notarized.

Retail Notaries

A retail notary operates in a storefront or office. PakMail and UPS Store locations have notaries on staff. You can walk into these locations during their business hours and meet with a notary. You will pay $10 for each signature notarized. The State of Michigan allows notaries to charge $10 for each notarization.

Retail notaries are a useful option, but not always the best because:

  • You have to drive there yourself.
  • You have to stand in line, and these stores can be quite busy.
  • There’s no privacy.
  • No evening hours.

Bank Notaries

Banks have traditionally offered free notary services to their account holders. This is often a good option, but problems are certainly possible.

Here’s why:

  • The bank notary may be out sick or at lunch. (I’ve had this happen.)
  • Bank notary service is only available during business hours.
  • Banks can have policies that limit what they will notarize. For example, one of my customers could not get his real estate seller documents notarized because his bank did not notarize outside real estate transactions.
  • Bank notaries sometimes lack training. I had a bank notary decline to notarize my DBA statement for Calhoun County because he did not understand how to fill out the notary form. True story.

Nationwide Mobile Notary Companies

If you do an internet search for mobile notary near me, you’ll likely get search results from numerous companies that provide mobile notary services everywhere. These companies also go by the term signing services.

Most of them do a good job, but they function mostly as dispatchers. No company can have a notary on staff everywhere, so they hire local contractors, like me.

I accept one-time contracts from these national companies all of the time. They can be convenient for you, as the customer, but there could be some issues.

You should know that you will pay more by going through a “dispatcher” service than if you hired me or another notary in your location directly.

The reason for this is that the national company needs to make money, so they take part of what you pay and offer part of the fee to the local notary.

So, if you’re quoted $150 for the job, the notary who actually does the work may receive somewhere between $50 to $100. You essentially pay more by using a middleman because that’s how intermediary services make a profit.

And if the company you chose low-balls local notaries, you’ll have delays in getting your job scheduled because local contractors won’t be interested in the job.

I see this all the time. A low-ball offer makes the rounds on the job text messages that go out to local notaries. No one accepts. As the requested appointment time approaches, more texts appear offering a little more money, but it could be too late. The requested time passes, and the customer keeps waiting.

Obviously some companies do a better job than others in hiring a local contractor in a timely manner. Check reviews before selecting a mobile notary dispatcher company. Companies that offer fair prices to the contractors will get their jobs scheduled on time.

Mobile Notary for Utility Easements

Mobile notary service for utility easements.

Are you having trouble connecting with a notary so you can sign a utility easement? The solution is hiring a mobile notary to come to you when it’s convenient for you.

As a mobile notary serving the area of Battle Creek, Kalamazoo, and Portage, I’ve helped people complete their signings of utility easements. My clients needed a mobile notary due to the involvement of multiple property owners. Each person needed to sign the easement, and it was hard to get everyone together at a retail notary location.

Add an elderly or home-bound person to the mix, and in-home notary service becomes well worth the price of a Michigan notary’s travel fee.

Contact me today at 269-967-6589 or fill out this form to arrange for mobile notary service.

What is a utility easement?

An easement is a document that grants someone other than the landowner, in this case a utility company, the ability to access the property, or portions of it, to install and maintain infrastructure, like power lines or water or gas lines.

A utility expanding local infrastructure has broad powers to bring landowners to the table if the infrastructure expansion is of public benefit. This is not the same as using eminent domain to actually force the sale of the land. The easement outlines where and how the utility can do its work on the property, but the landowner remains the owner of the property.

Why does a utility easement need notarization?

Utility easements are recorded by county agencies to keep track of who has rights of ownership and use of properties. This information is attached to the deed.

The easement will be recorded with the county so that anyone researching the property can see that the easement exists. This can be very important information to know, especially when the property is offered for sale.

All deed recordings require notarization.

This step assures county officials that the identities of property owners were confirmed when they signed the document. This is the role of the notary. The notary’s stamp and signature provide proof that the notary checked identification and confirmed that the people signed willingly.

Notarization of deeds is based on long tradition. Without notarization, people could forge land deeds and record transfers of ownership without legitimate consent of the true owners.

Mobile Notary for Out-of-State Property Sellers and Buyers

Call to get a quote for mobile notary service in Battle Creek, Portage, Kalamazoo, Marshall, and surrounding areas.

Every day, mobile notaries help buyers and sellers close on their properties from out of state or other distant locations. A mobile real estate closing notary performs the same services as you experience in a title office except that you choose where to meet.

You can complete the closing documents for your real estate purchase or sale at your home, office, vacation rental, or hotel.

No need to alter your travel or moving plans because they conflict with your closing dates. You can sign your closing documents with a mobile notary signing agent where and when it works best for you.

How do I get a mobile notary for my real estate closing?

The title company or law office that would have handled your closing internally can usually, upon request, arrange for a mobile notary. Ideally, you would discuss this need in the week or two before your signing date to ensure a smooth process.

If your title company has already sent you the paperwork and told you to find a local notary, you can hire a mobile closer directly and pay that person yourself.

Either way, I am available to assist with your real estate closing and notarize the necessary documents in the area of Battle Creek and Kalamazoo, Michigan.

Your or your title company or law office may call me directly to schedule an appointment.

Estate Planning Notary In-Home Services

Complete estate plan documents with in-home notary service.

A mobile notary can help you execute estate plan documents in the comfort of your home. My mobile notary services in the Battle Creek and Kalamazoo area include estate planning notary in-home services.

If it’s inconvenient to visit your law office to sign the documents due to time constraints or mobility challenges, or you have prepared them yourself, I can attend your signing of a power of attorney and/or will and notarize them where required.

Can I Get My Power of Attorney Notarized at Home?

Yes. My mobile notary service allows you to sign your power of attorney at a time and place that works for you. I’m flexible with my appointment times, including after hours. I accommodate people who can’t meet with a notary during normal business hours or prefer the convenience of in-home notarization.

Who Needs to Sign a Power of Attorney?

You will sign your own power of attorney. Additionally, the paperwork normally includes a page where your agent or attorney-in-fact signs to acknowledge that he or she has been named to act on your behalf according to the terms of the document.

As the notary, I will notarize your signature on your power of attorney. This act shows the world that I, as a neutral third party commissioned by the State of Michigan, checked your identification and confirmed that you signed the document willingly. To this end, you will need to show me government-issued picture ID.

Checking the ID of the signer of a power of attorney is very important due to the control over your affairs that the document may authorize now or in the future.

Can I Get My Will Notarized at Home?

Yes, if you choose to have a notary sign and stamp your will in addition to witnesses, I can attend your signing and do so. I will need to see a valid government-issued, picture ID to confirm your identity as the signer of the will.

To schedule in-home notary service for your estate planning documents, please call or text me, Tracy Falbe.
